dont see “Sausage Party”

i made the mistake of seeing the new movie “Sausage Party”, and id like to share why i think it was a waste of my time and why i think its not worth yours.

first of all, if youve seen the previews for the movie, then youve seen 90% of the things that make the movie funny. once youve seen a cartoon hotdog say “fuck” once or twice, it starts to get old. you spend the rest of the movie just kind of half-way laughing and hoping it gets funny again.

the whole movie basically a giant slight against religion. but that isnt why you shouldnt see it. that part doesnt bother me. you shouldnt see it because its not that funny after the first 5 minutes, and the last 10 minutes are just gross. its basically a giant orgy with cartoon food. i imagine that the people who wrote that scene asked themselves, “how can we make this as gross and gratuitous as possible”? the whole move is unnecessarily filled with cursing and sexual innuendoes. and again, that just isnt that funny and gets really old really fast.

dont get me wrong, i dont mind comedy that has cursing or that makes fun of religion. for example, my favorite comedian of all time is Bo Burnham, who often curses and makes fun of christianity. but when he does it, its actually funny, not gross.

i believe that there are far better ways to spend your time than seeing this movie. there are countless movies that you havent seen yet that would far more entertaining and enjoyable for you to watch.

we left the theatre wishing we had spent those 2 hours differently, and i dont want that experience for you.
